My Style? It’s unique!

September 26th, 2009

Yes finally, I get to post this fashion article of mine regarding the type of clothes I’m fond of wearing. My mom would always comment that I’m a fashionista or the fashionista among her daughters. Well, I am. I don’t like the idea of dressing up haphazardly especially if I’m meeting up with friends, new people and for a gimmik. However, my being fashionista is very different. Do you see the girl on your right? Okay good. Ignore the girl and observe what she is wearing.

You might say, that looks cool but if you wear that here in the Philippines, people will stare at you and think you might be weird. Sorry to burst your bubble but I do wear clothes like that. I like anything that is punk, rock and goth. This is the reason why I always get stared at when I go out. If the clothes shocks most people, the footwear I wear adds to it. As I mentioned in my second fashion post I love wearing boots and platforms, so imagine that I wear goth, punk, rock clothes plus platform boots. Not your so typical fashionista right or not your typical Filipino fashion.

I am never to conform to the latest trends. I wanted to be different so I don’t flock the department store or your local famous brand to shop for my clothes. If there is a local brand I frequent to that would be Your Rules Your Style (YRYS)  and Maldita. I love their style and it feels so me. When it comes to international brands, I spurge money on Japanese brand clothing like Punk Rave and  H.Naoto. Since they don’t have stores here in the Philippines, I buy them on-line and they are expensive but for the love of the fashion I want, it didn’t matter. On your left is one of my purchases of Punk Rave. It’s one of my favorite tops that I bought on-line.

Now if I can’t find it online, I scourge the thrift stores or what we Filipinos call it “ukay-ukay” . Believe it or not I could find cool, gothic stuff there and it’s branded like

a MAD PUNK skirt

the one on your right. That is a MAD PUNK skirt. When I stumbled upon it in a thrift shop near our place I was squealing with glee. Who would thought I would be able to stumble upon such a find there? That’s not the only brand you can find there. I found a FOREVER21 laced top, G2000, Esprit and other branded clothes.

Besides on-line stores like Multiply and E-bay and thrift shop, I still try local malls in shopping for clothes. I did mention YRYS and Maldita as the local brands I frequent but if I want branded, I go to ZARA (for the awesome jackets and vests), Terranova and Mango. You might say but these brands doesn’t have clothes that you wear. That’s what you think. If you are good in mix and matching that is.

When it comes to colors, I prefer black, white, red, gray and green. Though I go for black, white and red most of the time.  I usually wear all black or I mix black with white and red. I seldom wear other colors but if I do, I make sure I still look punk or rock. You can say my style is weird or bizarre, for me, I find it unique.

For those who want to buy H.Naoto, Punk Rave and other Japanese branded clothes, please visit the following sites: Rock n Doll and Gothic Vanity Store.
