Yesterday, October 3, 2009 I attended an exhibit opening in Sining Kamalig in Gateway, Cubao. My dearest friend Ings Isungga (who is also part of Project Eiva) who is part of the exhibit with many others had their artistic work displayed. The exhibit is called Pipti / Pipti.
I am very grateful for Ings to have invited me to attend this event. I seldom attend exhibits and when I get invites to things like this, I try to attend. I had fun in the event. The art works are really great. The titles were all written in tagalog. Most of them were deep tagalog words. Upon reading them, I can’t help but to feel ashamed how poor my Filipino vocabulary is.
Besides me, fellow Eiva’s and friends Vince, Tere, Vica and her friend Belai also attended the event. Ings was pretty busy mingling with other people in the exhibit. There were a bunch of foreigners too. There is this group of Swedish people and two Japanese guys who were looking in the artworks. Based on their expressions, they looked very interested in the artworks.

We also had fun drinking The Bar Orange and Apple flavor. Yes there was vodka in the event. Around 8:30 Tere, Belai, Vince and I decided to grab some dinner. Tere and Belai had to go after dinner. Vince and I went back to the exhibit.
Vica also left because she has work. Soon enough, our dear friends (fellow Eivas as well) Ice and Eco joined us.
By this time Ings was already tipsy because he was moving around too much and he was drinking vodka. It didn’t help we don’t have any chaser at all. Well The Bar taste really good, you can’t help but to keep drinking. I, myself had to indulge.
I have to say, the artists did a very good job. I have to commend them with their talents. Which I have even an ounce of what they have. As for Ings, his Tikbalang painting was really awesome. I hope he would be able to sell it and earn lots from it.
Also I found the Kitty (which he made out of Epoxy, seriously I didn’t know you can do that with epoxy) rather adorable. It’s a black cat that beckons. Kinda contradicting since we all know black cats are bad luck and a beckoning cat means welcoming wealth or good luck.
I also noticed that the artworks are deeply rooted in Filipino culture and folklore. I found it very endearing and made me proud that I am a Filipino. I pray and I hope that Ings and his fellow artists will be successful in the future.
Around 11:00 Ice, Eco and I decided to grab some tea latter in CBTL before going home. Ings decided to go with his fellow artists in the exhibit for coffee. I did tell him to take care going home since he is already drunk. I also told him to grab some coffee. He needs it.
And now for the quote and convo for that day
Tere: May client presentation pa ako bukas
Me: (evil smirk) Define presentation
Tere: (evil stare) *cocks up her anvil gun*
Ings: I’m so happy, I’m so happy, I’m drunk I’m so happy.
CONGRATULATIONS INGS FOR A SUCCESSFUL EXHIBIT!
